Context and Inspiration
“Pors Kernoc, le Kuloch'ic” is a watercolor created in 2017. The work represents a beach located to the south of the island of Batz, a place dear to my heart since it houses the school of his childhood. The painting also captures the pier, visible in the background on the right, which allows you to reach the continent. This work reflects nostalgia and my attachment to this island.
Visual Description
The painting uses earth tones, ochre, brown and sepia to depict Pors Kernoc beach with warmth and richness of texture. The watercolor, applied to canvas, gives a soft, fluid effect, capturing the light and shadows of this coastal scene. The architectural details of the school and the pier are subtly integrated into the landscape, adding a personal and historical dimension to the work.
Painting Techniques and Materials
I use watercolor on canvas, a technique which brings a particular transparency and luminosity to the work. Earthy tones are declined with finesse to create nuances and gradients that enrich the composition. Watercolor allows you to capture the peaceful and timeless atmosphere of this place.
