Context and Inspiration
"Dune" is a work produced in 2020. This painting captures the sands of the north of the island of Batz, where I was born and reside. Inspired by the natural beauty and power of the sea, this work depicts a summer scene with raging waves crashing on the white sand beach.
Visual Description
The painting shows a view from a dune, with grasses in the foreground and the sea in the background. The waves, lively and blue, break on the sand, creating a striking contrast with the fine white sand beach. The sky, although blue, shows traces of wind, indicating a windy day. The dominant colors are the blue of the sea and the sky, and the golden tones of the dunes and the beach, bringing a feeling of summer warmth and natural dynamism.
Painting Techniques and Materials
I use the knife painting technique to apply oil to the canvas, creating rich and dynamic textures. The details of the waves and dunes are achieved through precise mastery of painting techniques, giving the work a special depth and vitality.
Thematic Analysis
“Dune” explores themes of natural beauty, marine strength and summer tranquility. The vibrant colors and realistic details of the waves and dunes invite the viewer to feel the power and serenity of the sea, evoking feelings of freedom and contemplation.
