Context and Inspiration

“Solitaire V” is a work produced in 2022. This painting is part of a series of five, exploring themes of solitude and tranquility through nocturnal seascapes. Inspired by the beauty and serenity of the sea under the starry sky, I use a monochrome palette to capture the mystical and contemporary atmosphere of the scene.

Visual Description

The painting features a solitary sailboat sailing under a starry sky, with a large moon visible in the background. The calm sea reflects the stars and the moon, creating a harmonious and calming composition. The colors used are mainly black and white, accentuating the contrast and adding a modern and graphic dimension to the work.

Painting Techniques and Materials

I use the knife painting technique to apply the acrylic to the panoramic canvas, creating rich and dynamic textures. The visible stab wounds add depth and movement, accentuating the details of the sailboat, reflections and starry sky.

Thematic Analysis

“Solitaire V” explores themes of solitude, contemplation and natural beauty. The solitary sailboat symbolizes individuality and adventure, while the starry sky and shimmering sea invite reflection and appreciation of moments of calm and tranquility.
